Best Frogs of Fandom (and You)

Frogs. There is just something about their pop-eyed expression, their vibrant color, their skin that is sleek shiny smooth – or bumpy. Their adorably compact body that splays out into floppy legs. The implication of whimsy and humor mixed with vulnerability and the alien. They’ve been my favorite animal for a long time for those reasons – they are familiar but strange, satisfying but slimy. When we embody a frog, we embrace our own contradictory natures – our our own adorableness, our own alienness. We are jaunty, we are funny, we are also very weird. Go into frog pose, with your forearms down and your legs splayed out, and consider the absurd in us all.

To support you in that endeavor, I submit the best frogs of fandom, representing the delightfully bizarre and adorably slimy:

Where to start?

Wondering what this has to do with yoga? Yoga means “to join” – and here I join together ideas from different fandoms of many kinds, including, of course, yoga!

Check out where yoga can take you. Or how you could start yoga with a body that might betray your love of sitting, reading, and watching? Try why yoga is great for geeks or the best benefits of yoga that aren’t exercise. How about where to start? Read this guide to the basic yoga poses for beginners.
